The bands guide
Three bands describe every practice score, and three tiers describe every real score. Sites paraphrase them into mush; this page prints them exactly, explains what each one licenses you to do, and prices the practice test itself.
| Practice score | Band (exact words) | What it licenses |
|---|---|---|
| 145–200 | Likely to Pass | Book the subject. Within 60 days, it also unlocks the online seat for that subject. |
| 134–144 | Too Close to Call | Targeted study on the report's flagged areas — the fastest-moving band. |
| 100–133 | Not Likely | A rebuild, sequenced weakest-first. Not a verdict on the person. |
Each band has its own page: Likely to Pass · Too Close to Call · Not Likely.
| Real score | Tier (exact words) |
|---|---|
| 145 | Passing |
| 165 | College Ready |
| 175 | College Ready + Credit |
A practice score is never a predicted real score — the bands are signals about readiness, and this site never converts one into the other. Workbook practice-exam results are likewise read as a re-study list, never as a forecast.
The official practice test (GED Ready) costs $7.99 per subject or $25.99 for all four — checked October 2026 at the official door; farm pages still quoting older prices are stale. HiSET sells its own official practice tests through its site. Either way: four practice scores are the input the free Readiness Planner turns into your order, calendar and budget.
If you do buy help, buy it with open eyes — verified October 2026: Kaplan's course is $129 for 3 months; Onsego runs $79 / $119 / $199 one-time; Essential Education is $19.99 a month or $99.99 lifetime. The planner on this site is the free, standalone version of the planning layer those prices attach to a course.
The guides are the map. The Pass Plan is the paperwork: your dated calendar, the trackers, and the retake worksheet for your state.
